Kateryna Mikhalitsyna is an award-winning author of 20 children's books, several poetry collections, and over 50 translations. With more than 20 years in the publishing and cultural sectors, she collaborates with prominent Ukrainian publishers as an author, translator, and literary editor. Her participation in international events along with local festivals and initiatives highlights her commitment to promoting reading and advocating for Ukrainian culture, especially during the ongoing Russian war against the country.
A biology teacher and mother of three, Kateryna infuses her love for nature and her experiences into her children's books, reading sessions, and artistic workshops across Ukraine and beyond. Some of her works have been translated into over ten languages and adapted into theatrical plays, with most available in Braille. Since the onset of the Russian invasion, Kateryna has focused on supporting children affected by the war through readings and workshops, assisting animal shelters, and aiding Ukrainian soldiers. She also coordinates a support initiative launched by the Lithuanian Writers' Union in October 2022. Currently, Kateryna resides in Lviv with her family and three rescued dogs.
